The party gathered at the orphanarium before heading to the arena. Donna pleaded with Aron not to go the the arena, he responded with a jumble of words unlike his usual self, sending Donna into an outrage as she stormed out of the room.
One their way to the Arena, outside the gates Marcus was interrupted by an old drunk fan, warning him that House Arkona had their own champion this year.
After a brief introduction to the arena, the party decided to enter the beginner level of the events. They received another explanation of the rules which may not have sunk in with the entire party.
Their first challenge was a group from the Lonely Traveler, a small inn and pub in North Shore. The party made quick work of the bunch. With Chloe locked in a battle of voices with another bard. Marcus, Aron and Hoodlum easily defeated the rest of the goons.
Their second challenge proved more difficult, as the faced off against acolytes from the Temple of Irori, disciples of unarmed combat. Aron found himself unable to touch the agile monks with his great sword. Chloe did her best to try and bind the acolytes with magic, yet their quick feet always got the out of danger. Hoodlum found his crossbow useless as it broke on his first shot! He quickly changed to flail and shield. Marcus found himself quickly outnumbered as Abumi Zaiko, leader of the opposition outflanked him, and quickly subdued him with help from his team mate.
Eventually Aron strikes found home, Hoodlum’s flail found a way past their agility, and Chloe’s aspiring voice and nimble sword push the tide of battle in the heroes favor. With the acolytes surrendering, the match was called to an end. That must be when the madness over took Hoodlum. He gripped his flail and staring directly into the eyes of a surrendered opponent he swung his weapon down upon his head. While he cackled maniacally the crowd’s cheering fell to silence. The voice of the Arch Mage echoed through the stadium announcing shame upon the party. With that, Rays of Desintagration struck at Hoodlum, turning his entire being into a pile of dust.
The party not knowing what to do, returned to their homes and hid their heads in shame.
